ILERA AFE FAQs
We know just how important it is for you to ensure that your child does not have to go through the health conditions that you have. Whilst having a health condition shouldn’t stop you or your child from enjoying the beautiful life, knowing that you are protected should the worst happen, will give you that extra peace of mind, and potentially save you some hefty bills.
And that’s where our online medical screening service comes in handy.
What is online medical screening?
Well, online medical screening allows you to easily tell us about any pre-existing health conditions that you or your partner have.
Using our simple online screening service, you can add medical conditions during your assessment. There’s no need to fill out any paper forms, wait to get written confirmation, or have to tell a stranger over the phone about your medical history. In just a minute or two you can do it online and get your child's healthy future straight away.
Why do I need to tell you about my health conditions?
We need to know about certain pre-existing health conditions so that we can envisage the health conditions that your child is most likely to go through and your child's health can be secured through BOOSTER doses and PREVENTIVE treatments based on the conditions you have declared. That way, if a condition you’ve told about flares up, you will benefit from ICE medicines. Also, if you need medical assistance for your pre-existing health condition, you’ll get assistance with CURATIVE treatments.
This is why it’s really important that you tell us about your medical conditions.
What health conditions do I need to tell you about?
During your health assessment, we’ll ask you a few short questions about the medical history of you and your partner. This will help us determine whether or not you need to tell us about any health conditions. Depending on what pre-existing medical conditions you have (or have had) you might be asked about the number of different medications you take, whether you’ve been admitted to hospital or when you were first diagnosed.
So, what questions will you ask?
Before you start please remember that you must answer the screening questions as honestly as you can. If you are unsure of any details about your medical condition or if you have an undiagnosed health condition which is currently under investigation, we recommend you speak to your GP or one of our expert panel doctors.
-
First, we will ask if you or your partner have ever been diagnosed or treated for any cancerous, heart, circulatory or respiratory conditions. This could be a recent condition, or even one from a long time ago that you’ve made a full recovery from. If it is an old condition, don’t worry, we need to take this into account.
-
We’ll also ask if you or your partner has ever been diagnosed or treated for psychological conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression, or eating disorders. You wouldn’t need to answer yes if you’ve just felt like you’ve had one of these conditions, you need to answer yes only if you have been formally diagnosed by a medical professional or if you have received treatment.
-
We then ask if you or your partner has been prescribed medication, or attended a hospital as an out-patient or in-patient, or any other medical facility such as a medical practitioner's surgery within the last 2 years? So, if you’ve seen a doctor about a condition, or if you’ve been given medication to help with a condition (including repeat prescriptions), you will need to answer yes here.
-
Next, we ask if you're your partner has been put on a waiting list for treatment or investigation relating to an already diagnosed medical condition. For example - you could have high blood pressure which has flared up, and you are currently undergoing additional investigation or waiting for treatment. Remember, if it’s a condition which is has not been diagnosed, you’ll need to wait for a diagnosis before we complete your health assessment.
-
We’ll also ask if you or your partner has been given a terminal prognosis.
The questions will all be answered Yes or No. If you answer No to all the questions, then we don’t need to know about any medical conditions, but if you answer Yes to any of the questions, you’ll now need to declare the medical conditions relating to these answers.
How do I add medical conditions to my quote?
It’s easy to find a medical condition, just select ‘add condition’ and we’ll do our best to help you find the right condition.
Once you’ve found the right condition, we may ask you a few additional questions, such as whether you were admitted to the hospital or how much medication you take, so that we can really understand your individual circumstances and the impact the condition will have had on your current health and your child's future health.
It’s important to remember that you only need to add the name of the medical condition, you don’t need to add the name of any medication, or treatment, though we may of course ask you a few questions about these.
If you and your partner don’t have any medical conditions you can just select ‘nothing to declare’ and you will have an option to ensure the best of health for your child through our LINEAGESHIELD program.
Once you are comfortable that you’ve added all the conditions you need to – you can finish your screening and we’ll show you your health assessment results.
Will my results include safeguard for the conditions I’ve added?
Yes, the results we show you will take into account any medical conditions you’ve told us about. You can check all the details you’ve given to us when you see your health assessment results, and we’ll send an email confirmation to you when you opt for our SUPERLINEAGE program too. That way you have a record of what you’ve told us and you can keep track of what your child is covered for.
Can I declare some conditions and exclude others?
Simply put, the best advice is no. You can opt for standard FUTUREDEFENSE program that excludes cover all together for your pre-existing medical conditions, but when it comes to SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, you can’t pick and choose. Please don’t be tempted to just declare the conditions you want your child to be guided for, as doing so may nullify your efforts if another of your medical conditions flares up in your child. It’s always best to enlist all health conditions so that we can base our decision by taking into consideration all the facts and chalk out a tailor-made health plan so that your child gets the safest and most-suitable program.
How will my medical condition affect the cost of my child's SUPERLINEAGE program?
Many medical conditions can be covered for no extra charge, although it's still important to declare all of them. The severity of your condition will determine whether any additional premium is required, but we’ll include all of this in the price we show you so there’s no nasty surprises. We will base any additional cost on the risk of your child requiring one or more of the available programs including:
-
BOOSTER doses cover +
-
PREVENTIVE treatments cover +
-
ICE medicines cover +
-
CURATIVE treatments cover +
-
SUPERLINEAGE program +++
-
LINEAGESHIELD program ++
-
FUTUREDEFENSE program +
If your child's current illness is severe or if your child's health condition is unstable, you may have to pay more for SUPERLINEAGE cover.
Is there an age limit on SUPERLINEAGE cover?
No. People of all age groups can enroll for SUPERLINEAGE cover. However, it is pertinent to note that EARLIER THE BETTER will play a huge role in giving wholesome results.
We’ve done our best to make our medical screening process easier and simpler. You just need to complete one set of medical screening questions to get a quote to NURTURE HEALTHY HUMAN LINEAGE.
